RACED IMISCOE Standing Committee: How to talk about racism and race? Debates in academia and civil society

"Racism and ethno-racial discrimination permeate many areas of social life, manifesting in both blatant and subtle forms within the routines and accepted practices of institutions and organizations. Research on migration, integration and discrimination has increasingly focused on racism in multicultural societies. Once isolated and operating in silos, these research fields now interact more frequently, challenging and integrating their paradigms. The emergence of new research avenues on race, racism, and discrimination has sparked numerous debates across France and other European countries. These debates involve questions of scientific epistemology, theoretical and conceptual frameworks, methodological approaches and political strategy. Just as academics often engage in dialogue with and learn from civil society organizations, which help refresh research concepts and topics, anti-racist movements increasingly draw on academic findings as well.
To address these debates, Ined, in collaboration with the Standing Committee RACED of the European IMISCOE network and the ICM's Integer department, is organizing a two-day workshop at Campus Condorcet. The workshop will consist of four sessions, each featuring four presentations and an opening talk by an invited speaker."
