Ambiguous suburban spaces: Comparative analysis of local trajectories and changing everyday practices

The project will use a mixed methods approach in order to study changes and persistency in selected suburban case study areas of two Austrian and two Ukrainian cities. Furthermore, the project will study practices of everyday life by focusing on residents and civil society groups. Field of the project: modern aspects in the humanities (human geography, urban planning, urban development, migration). The aim of the study is to determine, scrutinize and compare the peculiarities of suburban transformation in Western and Central-Eastern Europe. The project analyses the role of driving forces and key actors of suburban transformations (such as urban governance, urban planning, public policies, real estate industry) in order to understand local/regional trajectories.
