The main objective of the project is the development and implementation of a new university program in ‘Geospatial Management’ to be offered on the second level (Masters) at seven participating Central Asian Universities. The objective is realized based on an analysis of qualification demand and definition of prerequisites, and through an interdisciplinary curriculum joining spatial sciences with resource, environmental and in particular energy systems management.
Overall, the program in ‘Geospatial Management’ will not only qualify a new generation of highly employable students at the intersection of geosciences, energy systems, resource and environmental management, but also contribute to structural and societal development.

Regarding pedagogical methodologies and approaches, experience from several applicants’ international study programs will be brought into this project:
• Blended learning with substantial eLearning components supported with local tutoring / instruction • Active learning will be employed as a constructivist
• Project-based learning within and across classes • Group work and group study (in projects, and beyond) will offer internationalization beyond the student body at one institution or in one country
• Supervised industry internships with companies / agencies in partner countries
• An annual summer school will offer even more intensive interaction, motivation, and exposure to international experts

The main objective of the project is to develop and implement an international, interdisciplinary postgraduate curriculum in Geoinformatics, with a clear focus on the management of critical resources. In particular, important pillars of the success of emerging economies in the Central Asia region will be addressed. The program will focus on the contents, teaching methods, academic integrity and a collaborative form of delivery as well as laying the foundation for lifelong learning in accordance with the Bologna Declaration.
