Silica-Silk Fibroin Aerogels

The procedures involved in this project are the combination of sol-gel procedure for silica surface functionalization, physically and chemically hybridization of silica network with silk fibroin fibers, and cell biology experiments to assess the aerogels' biocompatibility, biodegradability, and cell attachment performance.

The aim of the project is to develop mechanically strong macroporous silk-silica hybrid bioaerogels as a scaffold for regenerative medicine.
