Towards a new era of representative democracy - Activating European citizens’ trust in Times of Crises and Polarization.

The overarching goal of ActEU is twofold:
First, to map and investigate persistent problems of declining trust, legitimacy and representation in Europe with a particular attention to the polarization of European societies, the multi-level structure in Europe and the context sensitivity of political solutions. Second, to propose a toolbox of remedial actions with short-term and long-term policy recommendations as well as practical toolkits for political and civil society actors and the educational sector in order to activate citizens and to enhance political trust in European representative democracies.
