Description
Dance archives face complex challenges arising from the tension between preserving, organising, making visible and engaging with archival material. Using the Derra de Moroda Dance Archives in Salzburg as an example, the lecture deals with selected aspects of archival work in dance, highlighting the complex processes of selection, prioritisation and marginalisation of archival objects that result in both the focal points and the gaps of an archive, and discussing the consequences of these processes for working with dance archival material in academia and artistic practice.
