Description
BOARD MEMBEREVENT CO-ORGANISER
--------
This launch is a semi-public event to celebrate the transition from the former Chinese Studies Center to the Forum Asia Pacific with interested students, scholars, and invited stakeholders from politics, society, culture, and business. The focus will be on input and discussion about fostering transdisciplinary collaboration with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region.
--------
On December 15, the FOR APAC welcomed around 55 participants from universities, ministries, politics, social stakeholders and diplomatic missions during its launch event.
This opening showcased our vision and where we currently stand. Prof. Brenda Yeoh’s (NUS) keynote lecture “Theorising from Asia… and back to Europe: Decolonising migration studies” excellently connected agenda-setting themes with societal relevance studied/to be studied in a wide range of disciplines. The keynote stirred a number of questions in the Q&A from the audience while the podium discussion engaged with a productive exercise of having transdisciplinary conversations about migration/mobility, the internationalization of higher education institutions, the issue of power and knowledge production, and climate change as well as their interaction as a future research agenda (panelists: Prof. Petra Dannecker, Prof. John Dunlop, Prof. Rossella Ferrari, & Prof. Brenda Yeoh).
