DES Center - Dependable Embedded Systems Center

The present proposal aims at the establishment of a Center for Dependable Embedded Systems as the importance of this topic is increasing rapidly. The Center for Dependable Embedded Systems will bring together the key players in the field (industry, academia, regulatory agencies, funding agencies) and will coordinate and stimulate the basic research, the applied research and the industrial activities in the field of dependable embedded systems within Europe. To establish this Center the following steps have to be implemented: ••Foundation of the Center ••Constitution of the Center ••Marketing of the Center ••Activities of the Center For the establishment of this Center a time frame of 1 year has been calculated as necessary. As soon as the establishment of this Center has been effected successfully, a continuative proposal will be submitted to request support for the ongoing activities of the Center. Marketing of research results obtained in projects affiliated with the center - Marketing of educational events such as summer schools organized by the center •To bring together the key players in the field (industry, academia, regulatory agencies, funding agencies) first on a national and later on an European basis in order to establish a common vision of the requirements and identify the research needs in the field of dependable embedded systems. •To promote coordinated basic and applied research projects in the identified areas such that the know-how base for the industrial take-up is strengthened. •To organize advanced education and training courses in the field of dependable embedded systems.
