The scientific challenges are clustered into two strategic research projects (1) motion data intelligence (human motion analytics, psychophysiological analytics, motion quality analytics) and (2) motion data interaction (motion data communication, embodied motion data interaction, feedback-learning systems). The research results will be evaluated in a demonstrators’ project addressing the main application fields of next generation smart sports equipment: (i) Smart Equipment Customization (storefactory for running shoes; in-shop skiing fitting centre; in-shop offline data interaction) and (ii) Digital Coach (walking, women in running, alpine skiing). DiMo fits strategically with national and international digitalisation and innovation agendas. In particular, the consortium with industrial partners along the value chain (Digital Elektronik, adidas, Atomic, Swarovski, SimpliFlow, Red Bull Media House, Sport Bründl, Gasteiner Kur- und Reha Centre, Schladming-Dachstein) and research institutes with a proven track record (Dept. of Sport Science and Kinesiology and the Center for Human- Computer Interaction of the University of Salzburg, Institute of Bioengineering of EPFL Lausanne, Salzburg Research) will perform interdisciplinary research for a successful digital future of the sport, fitness and wellbeing industry in Europe.
