Project Details

Description

The method undertaken in this project is as follows: - Development/application of suitable reference models of the air traffic including an estimate of the Peak Instantaneous Aircraft Count (PIAC) with regard to future reference scenarios (2013+, 2020+, 2025+) as defined in [SESAR/D3] as Task 1 (PIAC Estimation); - Development/application of suitable data/voice traffic generation models to estimate the amount of user data, as well as protocol overhead / signalling data (down to the network layer) for the above scenarios (with focus on the level 4: 2025+ scenario) based on expected ATS/AOC applications and services defined in [Link2000], [COCRv2] and [SESAR/D3] in order to provide the consortia involved in the Iris Communication System Design Phase A study with appropriate data volume estimates for their overall system design à Task 2 (Information Volume Estimation); - Support the consortia involved in the Iris Communication System Design Phase A study to assess the end-to-end communication system performance à Task 3 (Support to Communication Standard Assessment).
