Abstract
Many MS constitutions guarantee the essential characteristics of their constitution. This produces an evident tension with the increasing impact of European integration, affecting both MS legislation and executive practice. Thus, and in view of the high hurdles MS constitutions set for constitutional change – including the conditions for further EU-integration – the question arises, whether integration has come to a halt by the already difficult entering into force of the Lisbon Treaty.
Against this backdrop, the ‘Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies – SCEUS’ and in a four years-research project explored the conditions for the future evolution of European integration in all 28 (27) MS. The results of this project are collected in this book.
